Join the Fun, Join the Winter/Spring Doubles Ladder at The 300 Club!

"SUPER BOWL TEAM TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS”

It’s time to kick off the year with the Super Bowl Team Tennis Championships at the 300 Club. Players are drafted to a team representing the Super Bowl teams that will actually play. We kick off at 9:00 on February 4th, which is the day before the big game. The format for this event is what makes it so much fun! Point scoring is kept as always, i.e., 15-15, 30-30, but game scoring is different. When holding your own service game, you score a field goal, (3 points). When holding serve at love, you score a touchdown (7 points) and when breaking your opponent’s serve, you score a touchdown (7 points). This makes for very interesting match-ups and reported scores. A score could come in at 24-24 or 56-0. The team chemistry is also quite unique in that players are flighted by ability but are representing the team equally. USPTA “CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS TOURNAMENT”

The “Champion of Champions Tournament” is a great event held in Volusia County each year. I would like to take a team to take a 300 Club Team to the competition this year. The dates are March 3rd and 4^th. The tournament is presented by the USPTA, (United States Professional Tennis Association), and is played as a benefit for several local charities. The annual event attracts 225/250 players from the county each year. A full club team has 32 players on the roster. Divisions of play are: men’s and women’s doubles in 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 50+, 60+ and 70+ and Open divisions. All matches will be played at the Florida Tennis Center in Daytona Beach. This will be a weekend trip and a ton of fun. Only one doubles team per/club is allowed to represent the club. If we have more than one team that wants to play in a designated division, we will have a playoff to decide who will qualify. Any doubles team can play as an independant team and can win the flight. But only one team per division can represent the club. You must be a 300 Club Member to be considered to play in this event. If you are interested in playing on our team, please call me at 672-1921.
